PRIVACY STATEMENT

The Satanic Ministry website ("the Website") is a collection of applications ("Apps") supporting The Satanic Temple's ordination program and community of Satanic ministers:

  • Online Ordination is the home of the coursework for the ordination and non-ordination online programs, and the hub for ministers to access resources they need to perform their ministerial duties.
  • Services @ Temple is a centralized source for information about our weekly religious services, led by Ministers of Satan, including archival videos of past services.
  • Minister Supplies Store allows ordained ministers and graduates of the non-ordination coursework to purchase certificates and other items.
  • TST Help Center is an FAQ platform where you can look up the answers to common questions about The Satanic Temple, its ordination program and ministry, structure of the organization, basic beliefs, and more.
  • SAMAEL Catalog is an online catalog for books, digital resources, and other documents held by groups and individuals in The Satanic Temple.

By using any of the Apps that make up the Website, you affirm that you have read and understand the information set out in this Privacy Policy, as well as all other provisions described or linked to in the Legal Statements of the Website.

1. What information do we collect and what do we do with it?

The following Apps on the Website are public and do not require login: Services@Temple, TST Help Center. These applications collect no personal information.

The following Apps on the Website do require login and collect personal information from you when you enroll: Online Ordination, Minister Supplies Store, SAMAEL Catalog.

1.1 Account Creation

When you create an account to enroll in one of our online learning programs, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and your country, region, and city of residence as part of the registration process. You are required to provide your legal name as it appears on a current (non-expired) legal form of identification.

The system creates an account for you in the Minister Supplies Store if you graduate from one of our online learning programs. The account is created using only your name and email address. You are required to fill in information for your shipping address if you order any items that must be delivered to you. However, purchases are optional: you are not required to order any products or enter any information for your Minister Supplies Store account.

You may request an account on the SAMAEL Catalog by emailing the Ordination Council. If you are provided with an account, it will have only the email address and whatever public name information you have provided. (It does not need to be your legal name.)

1.2 Minister Verification

Your legal name is stored in a secure database and will never be given out unless legally required by a court order. We retain your name on file only so that we can respond to requests for verification of the ordained status of people claiming to be Ministers of The Satanic Temple.

For example: If someone attempts to register with a County Clerk as an ordained Minister of The Satanic Temple so that they can legally solemnize a marriage, that County Clerk may contact us for verification. They will provide us with the name and Minister ID number on the Minister's ID card or certificate, and we will respond by saying "yes" or "no" to confirm that the name and ID combination matches what we have on file.

1.3 Email Marketing

We may send you emails about our program, registration, your course progress, the status of your ordination, or other updates. We may also use your email to inform you about changes to the program, survey you about your usage, or collect your opinion.

1.4 Background Check

Candidates enrolled in the Ordination Program must submit to a background check to complete the program and become ordained. When you have completed all of the other coursework, you will receive an email from the vendor we use to perform the background check, Inflection Risk Solutions, LLC d/b/a GoodHire. That email will provide a link that allows you to log into their system and provide the required information.

We do not store the personal information that you provided to the vendor in our systems. We do check the information that you provide to the vendor, however, to verify that it matches the identity you used to sign up as a candidate.

2. How do you get my consent?

2.1 Overt and Implied Consent

During registration as an ordination candidate or non-ordination student you are asked for your explicit consent to use your registration information to contact you with updates and notifications connected with your coursework, or connected with your minister account if you successfully complete the ordination program.

If you are provided an account with either the Minister Supplies Store or the SAMAEL catalog, you will be provided to activate that account when you first log in. That activation step will ask you to confirm consent to use your personal information for the purposes of those additional applications.

You may be asked to provide additional information in the course of using some of the applications on this website. For example, you will be required to provide shipping and billing addresses if you make a purchase from the Minister Supplies Store. When you provide such information for such specific purposes, your information will be used only for those purposes and no others.

2.2 How do I withdraw my consent?

Every email that you receive from Satanic Ministry includes an opt-out / unsubscribe option in the email footer. You may opt out of individual communications from specific apps of the Website using these links, or you may request to have all information removed at once so that you receive no more emails at all by contacting us at [email protected] using the email subject line "Satanic Ministry Email Consent".

3. Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service. We will not disclose your personal information for any other reason.

As an example, if you are located in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our course website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or our website’s Terms of Service.
